Every Day New ...

Each and every day can be a new beginning.

The magic of a 24-hour day  lies in the fact
that when it comes to an end, there can be closure.

Conflicts resolved.

Resentments put aside.

Fears surrendered.

With the dawn of a new day
comes the opportunity to begin again.

Just as the sun rises each day,
creating a unique and breathtaking panorama,
so can we paint a fresh and brilliant day for ourselves.*

Do you think you can ... create a brand new day for yourself each and every day?

I do.

Beautifully said, Jan. I do believe we may begin each day fresh, if we set that intention. I met a woman the other day who recites the prayer of Saint Francis each morning to begin her day. This has inspired me to give some thought to my own morning patterns- that they be ritual and not simply habit: the shower, the coffee, etc- and to add intention for newness, for spirit, for love and grace....

I do believe we can create many new adventures for each day. I've learned this later as an adult, but I'm very grateful I have. :)

Loved Your Words!!

I do believe you can. Sometimes this is just the kick in the pants I need to remember this. Thank you Jan!

Beautiful and inspiring thoughts this Sunday morning Jan.

Yes, yes, yes. We can. It is a learning process - one small daily effort at a time builds to a daily desire to and a daily practice of doing all in our power to create a new day.

In time, without thinking about it, yet mindful of it, we close the door on one day and open the door on another in an unbroken mode of open eyes, open hearts and open hands for the new and not so new.

Some daily practices to help us get to that place:

- daily gratitude for simple blessings
- daily forgiveness of ourselves and others
-daily compassion
daily love for ourselves and others
- daily diligence for our work
- daily passion for our life's purpose

Most definitely. Love the parallel of painting a fresh and brilliant day for ourselves. Yes, we are the painters of our own lives, choosing which colors, which textures, which essence and theme to fill the canvas with. I love the potential of that fresh canvas each morning!

Oh yes! And every morning, my mantra is: another 24 hours to create joy and love and to live in the now and be free :-).

Funny, I just posted a quote by Ralph Waldo Emerson that addresses that very concept.

I attempt to do this, however, some days I find I'm still dragging the same cumbersome baggage around by my ankle into the next day. Very limiting behaviour that.

Sunrise truly does impart a sense that anything is possible - with ourselves and even beyond those borders.

This is so true and one of my biggest gratitudes. Knowing that each new day brings a new beginning and new chance of awakening.

I have even had days where I have had to start new in the middle of the day. Such a blessing to know that I can re-start at any given moment.

Ingrid,
You mention an important notion —intention. And I love the questions you are asking of yourself. How can my morning routine be blessed with greater appreciation and awareness?

Tabitha,
Better late than never, right? And to have found the ability to create new adventures each day... Love that. :-)

Caroline,
Glad the post gave you a little boost. :-)

Sema,
Enjoy, enjoy!

Cheryl,
I concur, it is a learning process to know what nurtures our spirit to begin our day in a stellar way. You offer some wonderful suggestions!

Joanne,
I've always loved the metaphor of painting our lives and that each day is an empty canvas. Thank you for that beautiful reminder...

Annie,
What a terrific mantra!

Carolynn,
Such an important awareness you have, though, that stuff is being carried forward... That, paired with intention, can make shifts definitely happen. Be well!

Paul,
Isn't a sunrise just the most beautiful metaphor for the possibilities that await us?

Jill,
I so appreciate what you say here about starting over even in the middle of the day when we have to. Wonderful!

When I'm in a good mood I do. But when I'm feeling down the days just blur around the edges. Though, having said that, when I was in the darkest depression, one of the things that helped me claw my way out was 'Tomorrow may be different'. A simple thought, but if repeated, actually sinks in and helps to change your mood. Overcoming depression wasn't as simple as that - but that thought did help.

yes, jan, i do. i am gratefeul for each new day. many times i have laid down at the days end with and uneasiness about me...and all the notions that i had in my head as i drifted off to sleep...where gone when i opened my eyes and my heart with the new morning. and i thank God every morning for the new day before my feet hit the floor.

thank you Father for the words of acceptance and encouragement that we find here with jan. may our blessings continue to flow.
