Vibrating at the Speed of Love

Did you know that with very little effort you can actually tap into the "Vibration of Love?"

You can test this out very simply for yourself right now. Take a moment and think about something you absolutely love to do. An activity you’re passionate about where there is no sense of time or effort. Or, think about someone you love very much. Hold that thought and intently focus on it. Now, check in with yourself and notice how you feel. Pretty good?

This simple exercise just raised your vibration. ‘Vibration’(as I use the term) is the amount of love and compassion you are feeling in any given moment in time. Within seconds, you were able to create thoughts and feelings of love, inner calm, or joy. Can you imagine what your life might be like if you regularly took time throughout the day to raise your vibration in this way? Just imagine how good you could feel!

Most of us, if we are honest, pay attention to most all the thoughts that randomly float through our mind, some 60,000 of them a day. The majority of these thoughts are negative, sourced in our human operating system known as "ego." The ego’s presence, and the messages it sends, have a very low vibration. The ego produces the lowest of the low notes, those energy-sapping, conflict-producing attributes that are rooted in fear, anger, or disappointment. We all know how uncomfortable those can make us feel.

Consider this bumper sticker that makes an important statement about our power of choice:

"You don’t have to believe everything you think."

Imagine that! This notion affirms what I believe to be true. None of us need to act upon what the ego broadcast says to us. We can hear it, but we do not have to listen to it. There is a difference between hearing and listening.

To have the highest vibration possible will require that we do exactly that. Notice what our ego self is saying, then choose not to listen to it or act upon what it says. The moment we begin to listen to the ego’s broadcasts, we'll feel our positive energy dwindle. The more we listen, the more our vibration will plummet. We do have the capacity to respond (vs. react) to our thoughts. We can literally say to this voice, ‘No, I don’t wish to spend time listening to this. I’m choosing better ...  higher.’

How about you? Are you vibrating at the speed of Love?

What choices could you make to raise your vibration to experience more Love?

I love writing, singing, meditating, being in nature, etc. Lately, work has been very busy, so when I am not able to do the above things, I try to invoke a compassionate presence and remind myself of the endless possibilities.

I love that picture and your suggestions to access love!

Love this post. And love that bumper sticker! I remember Eckhart Tolle mentioning this. How we have so much noise in our heads...and how much of it is not true. It's just a matter of letting it go.

Thank you for this today...

Yes, there is a difference between hearing and listening. As time goes on we have more and more clutter in our minds. We have a choice. It's like turning to another station. It brings to mind a scripture in Philippians.
It tells us to think on those things which good, lovely, loveable, kind and gracious.

Hi Jan,
This is another beautiful photo and post! I love your suggestions and that bumper sticker is great! Thanks for bringing up MY vibration with your great thoughts and writing! xo

another post of wisdom and clarity.

great photo...I would love to be able to actually see my chakras doing that!

This is a wonderful post :-). Sometimes I hear a negative thought(in my head) and laugh out loud at how ridiculous it is. Most of the time what goes on with the ego is blah, blah, blah.
For me doing art, running, baking, gardening all bring me so much joy and just thinking about my porcelain can raise my vibe :-).

Jan,
I often pause throught the day to "vibrate" peace, actually thinking I am calm and peaceful at this moment allows me to feel calm and peaceful despite regardless of circumstances. Hadn't tried it with love. Going to though:) Quite an experiment....

Wilma Ham October 28, 2009 10:32 PM

I am still so amazed how all these negative thoughts find their way into my mind when at the same time they could be loving ones.
However I am so pleased that this is becoming more and more common knowledge and that I just have to replace thoughts with loving ones.
I am also so pleased my mind cannot multi taks and can only hold one thought at the time. What a blessing so replacing it with I AM LOVE is possible when I feel out of tune.

Wow, I really need to focus more on Love. I have gotten so wrapped up in the unhappy events in my life that I have forgotten about Love. Thank you for bringing me back to Love and reminding me that I don't have to believe everything that I think.

Angela Recada October 29, 2009 9:26 AM

I purposely waited until this morning to read this post, because I wanted to start the day with your wisdom.
:0)
Your words ring so true to me. I definitely feel different energy deep inside depending on what I am thinking. Negativity does feel heavy - positive thoughts feel light.

And hearing and listening - they really are worlds apart.

Today I will try to quiet all the noise and listen only to the positive.
:0)
Hugs,
Angela

(I loved the bumper sticker quote, too!)

This is a great post, Jan! I LOVE high vibration and being with high vibration people. I have been listening to the music of Dean and Dudley Evenson and studying their work in chakras and vibrational energy. I can so relate to the area of music, tonal frequency, and my body's response to it. This is amazing! It's so simple to live in LOVE and PEACE, all I have to do is stayed tuned to the right tones and positive, life-giving thoughts and actions.
This is the highest form of Spiritual practice that I've learned. It has such positive, high-vibrational effects on people around me too.
Sending "high-vibe" Love to you,
Julie

I'm new here and just wanted to say hi and thanks for a great blog :)

I'm Rachel, a yoga teacher (amongst other things) and I love love love yoga yoga yoga - it always makes me feel the Vibration. That and my beloved partner who pulls me out of sinkholes of depression and anxiety.

Namaste and lovely to meet you :D

Carolynn October 29, 2009 11:00 AM

Okay, so I read this yesterday, did the exercise and sat there at my desk with a big grin and a great warm & fuzzy feeling.

Then, I got in my car at the end of the day and encountered nothing but frustration and irritation on my drive home.

So, I tried the exercise again to see if I could switch and it worked. I confess I was still a little frustrated and irritated, but it's a tool I'll likely incorporate again.

Hugs!
Carolynn

Hello to all of you who have left such amazing comments! Thank you so much. You do my heart good!

For those of who haven't visited my other (woman-to-woman) blog please do so. www.awakenedliving.com. I just posted on a personal foray into how challenged I've been not listening to the all those crazy thoughts. Please join me there!

Mermaid, your personal attunements to love are wonderful. And esp. important when work is busy and we could move into overwhelm. May compassion prevail!

Caroline,
Well put! The noise in our heads is not necessarily true or even "real." We can name it and let it go for greater ease...

One Woman,
I have often used that exact metaphor: turn the station on the mind radio and tune into something else. Thank you for this wise reminder! And yes, the scripture passage is perfect. I call it "reorienting ourselves toward Spirit." Hugs!

Nadia - Happy Lotus October 29, 2009 12:59 PM

Hi Jan,

Yay for vibrating at the speed of love! Life is all about love. It is so evident everywhere and it truly does wonders.

I also love that bumper sticker. Thank you so much for sharing that with all of us.

As for what helps me feel more loving is the reminder that we are all connected to one another in some form. The Universe was created in love but we humans have messed it up. So it always good to remember the source which unites us all.

Jan October 29, 2009 1:59 PM

Diantha,
U R welcome, friend. You always raise my vibration too!

Laura,
Thank you for your kind words. It would be fun to see our energetic bodies in this way, wouldn't it? Hope you are doing well today...

Annie,
Love your list! It's so good to be cognizant of what works for us, what lifts our vibration up out of the dark nether regions. May we make uplifting choices for ourselves.

Helena October 29, 2009 2:44 PM

Yes, this really works! The power of thought is amazing.

A while ago I thought I was going to have to go back to temping as a secretary but as I started to say positive affirmations before I went to bed my situation turned around in only a couple of days. I know my example does not relate to love but I know how positive thinking can change your life!

Have a lovely evening!

Jannie Funster October 29, 2009 3:53 PM

I just had my ego exorcised.

Thank you for letting me know how absolutely unecessary he was to my well being.

Who do we come with egos at all, I wonder?

Jan October 29, 2009 6:55 PM

Joy,
Glad to hear that you are in tune with the vibration of peace and calm. Let me know how upping the love vibe goes. I bet your kids will like it!

Wilma,
The mantra you use of "I AM LOVE" is so powerful. My husband uses the same one and he is a very loving guy. :-) The vibration of love, consciously held, I believe, can shift anything. So good to know that you are faithful to this process.

Are you familiar with the work of James Twyman? He has done so with groups in war torn areas with remarkable success. (Also Peace; he is known as the Peace Troubadour)

Sema,
Thank you and welcome. Let's create new imprints, shall we?

Rues,
Thank you for the kind comment and welcome!

Jan October 29, 2009 7:00 PM

Jill,
Well, I am glad this helped. It is very easy for any of us to get sucked in to the vibe of what is ongoing, esp. when it is negative. Hard to break free. I think mantras do help.

The other day I was driving, feeling a bit anxious (about the issue I posted on today at awakenedliving.com) and I just starting OMing in the car out loud. (I was alone, LOL) Just to hear my own voice with that vibration began to shift my energy. I was reminded how powerful sound is to realign us with our truest selves. Holding you in heart and thought as you make a mighty shift!

Angela,
So nice to know that what gets posted here jumpstarts your day. :-) Thank you!

Good for you for vowing to try to choose the positive and align with that. Yes, we can really FEEL the weight of thoughts and feelings, can't we? May we consistently choose higher...

Sharon October 29, 2009 11:25 PM

A year ago I started observing my thoughts, noticing, paying attention. Slowly I began to shift away from the negative self-talk toward positive affirmations. It's a process and I'm making progress. It's amazing the difference a thought can make.

Hilary Melton-Butcher October 30, 2009 3:36 AM

Hi Jan .. so true and after today I will settle and start putting some of your ideas into practice - some I can do today .. but I'll settle into a routine and establish that over the weekend .. So pleased I'm here reading your guidances ..

Thanks - Hilary Melton-Butcher

Discover this blog through Walkng in Stillness. To savor where you are, value silent power and love everything unconditionally, is what everyone & everything does. Yet, this apparently revolutionary behaviour is not always recognized consciously. It is a process to reach the mental place where you consciously choose to love and accept everyone as they are. Remember to turn off the noise. This is how you ap into the power of stillness that speaks through nothingness. You understand this now.

Jan October 30, 2009 2:11 PM

Julie,
This is just wonderful to hear! Your vibration is obviously very high. :-)

Isn't it amazing how the Universe guides us toward those people, practices and resources which enhance our journey--and our healing? The Evensons have done groundbreaking work in the field of sound healing and the chakras (vibration) and I'd invite others to check out their work and amazing music. www.soundings.org.

I am celebrating you with music today. :-)

Rachel,
Welcome! So true that yoga can raise our vibration too. Perhaps that is why some believe it is the ultimate body, mind, spirit system. And so nice to have a partner that helps too! Blessings...

Carolynn,
I so appreciate you trying this. Truly, what we focus on expands, and because we can only focus on one thought at a time, if we choose carefully we can make internal shifts. Thoughts create feelings, so by attending to one we can alter the other. (Most times, with practice...) I do hope you will keep working with this if it feels right to you and let me know how it goes. :-)

Nadia,
Beautiful thought! That focusing on our connection as One body, you can raise your vibration. I love that. :-)

Helena,
Well, I think this works with any high vibration of the Spirit. Peace, joy, gratitude, and more. The Paramitas in Buddhist thought. Virtues in Judeo/Christian thought. One pointed focus on any of these is certain to raise vibration. I am glad you were able to do this yourself in that office setting. Wonderful!

Rose - The Center of My Self October 30, 2009 10:40 PM

What a beautiful exercise! I needed this reminder. The past few days I've felt really stuck, as if I'm slogging through guck and can't get myself moving. I do my morning routing of pranayama, some yoga and other exercise then out for a long walk, but when I get home, I just sit at the computer, not really accomplishing anything. I need to clean up my office for painting. Did a little yesterday, but zippo today. I'm going to think of a beautiful office first thing tomorrow and see if it can raise my vibration so I can accomplish something. Thanks, Jan!

Jan October 31, 2009 1:44 PM

Jannie,
Oh I am hear to hear that the nasty ego gremlins moved on--at least for a while! They are pesky critters, astute at dragging us out of our truest self!

Sharon,
It IS a process, a very big one. In fact, it is a total shift in consciousness--and very countercultural. So it does take time AND gentleness. I am so heartened you are on this path now and affirming yourself daily. :-)

Liara,
Wise reminders, thank you. Turning off the noise is vital, isn't it? Allowing ourself safe haven in silence can calm the storm and bring clarity. We just need to remember...

Jan October 31, 2009 7:15 PM

Rose, this is good news. I do hope this perspective on vibration will help lift you out of the sludge, as you say. :-) Not a fun place to be, for sure.

Focusing intensely, or visualizing an image associated with the particular virtue (love, peace, joy) can definitely help. When I think of peace and equanimity and want more of that for myself, often I picture the Dalai Lama as he was when I saw him last year. He was the picture of centeredness, ease and joy. What would work for you?

Rose - The Center of My Self October 31, 2009 8:15 PM

The Dalai Lama - peaceful, joyful, centered. Just putting that image in my mind gives me a more grounded vibration. I like that, Jan!

Megan "JoyGirl!" Bord October 31, 2009 9:21 PM

I love this post, and the image was phenomenal! (It totally sucked me in!) Funny, I just finished the part in your book that talks about raising the energetic vibration. I loved how your husband said he would use the simple mantra, "I am love" to raise how he was feeling. I've been repeating that to myself throughout the day. Thank you!

Jan November 1, 2009 8:29 PM

Rose,
Works for me everytime! I have a picture of him teaching that day which always invites me "home."

Megan,
So glad to hear that the book is resonating with you (pun intended!). That mantra is powerful, and Wilma, who often comments here, uses that one too. It does have a particularly high vibration. Spiral onward and upward!
