The Humorous Side of Spirituality with a Guest and a Giveaway!

Hang on to your middles, spiritual journey friends, because I've got a side-splitting guest today. She's a comedian, a songstress, and a smarty pants of a woman with a heart as big as the world. Not to mention she's as deep as a river. How many people can you say that about?

Welcome, Jannie Funster! I adore Jannie and you know why? Because I am one of those people who can take life just a bit too seriously and she never fails to lift me out of any self-imposed pensiveness. She makes me smile and glad to be alive!

I interviewed Jannie just recently and here is what she said about spirituality and humor, who's having a good laugh in heaven, and talking to—who?—as a spiritual practice.

So read on, enjoy, and don't forget to leave the Mistress of Mirth (and me, who bows down to her) a comment because she doing a Giveaway of her very cool CD, "I Need a Man."

Jannie is also offering a pre-holiday special for the purchase of said CD. Scroll down to the bottom of her post and you will find it there. Such a deal!

Da Da Da DAAAAAA! And now I give you Jannie Funster!

1. When and how did humor come to be such an important aspect of your life?

Well, Dearest Awakened Jan, I hail from a long line of Funsters who have roamed the world in fuzzy pants and hats with green dingle balls as far back as our records show. Internal family archives indicate all the way back to Moses' time. Apparently he was always sending the Funsters to the back of the Exodus line for poking people in the derriere with olive sticks. Playful poking of course, but not all appreciated the humor therein.

And the funsterment continues in our Kelly, now 8. I'll never forget the day I took this picture on a stroller walk when she was 6 months old. We had just returned and were sitting in the dining room, she still in that little hat in her stroller, me sipping my beer tea and knitting a kelp bikini—when she burst out belly laughing at seemingly nothing, her blue eyes and little body just a-dancing with joy. She laughed like that for a good 2 minutes, which made me follow suit of course, our mysterious olde funsterment gene kicking in big-time.

So I guess it's innate. But we all love to laugh, don't we?

Blogging is such a super-amazing fun outlet for me. For some reason when I sit and write I often find silly ideas popping out of me. And you readers send back your own nutty-fun energy and it gets to snowballing. And I love it!!

2. What do you think is the relationship between spirituality and humor?

Jan, I think there's a real physical formula to laughter and how it speaks to spirit—like the mind / body / heart connection of music. Something in laughter and songs (and hugs) gets to us on a cellular level.

I think God laughs all the time, up there cracking jokes with the angels. Bet they're always having a total hoot.

3. Where do you find yourself spiritually these days?

These days I'm growing and learning, Jan, ever trying to put into action forgiveness, understanding, patience and self-acceptance. I've been reading some great soul expansion books, such as Liara Covert's Self Disclosure, Tess Marshall's Flying By The Seat Of My Soul, and Chris Edgar's Inner Productivity (all written by fellow bloggers) which I've ravely reviewed on my site.

I am focusing on appreciating the moment—not rushing to or thinking about the next thing.

I try to dwell in gratitude for the gift of each day and for the wonderful beings in my life. I realize I am on a journey and that I am far from perfect. 'Way far from perfect!

4. What spiritual practices do you engage in ?

I talk to squirrels a lot, even tho they are not impressed with me taking their photos on the running trail. They all carry these little waiver forms they make me sign, to ensure sure I blacken out their faces. Funny little beings.

Trees are a big part of my spirituality. I climb the tallest ones when I can. Otherwise, I find ones with low-to-the-ground branches I can sing to. They love most any kind of music, but Cole Porter tunes seem to be their favorites—"Day & Night," especially. Oh, and "Girls Just Want To Have Fun," except for them I sing "Trees Just Want To Have Fun."

I delight in the pulsing hum of nature and the universe, just to contemplate being part of it and the Great Love that ties us all together is a mind-boggling practice for me.

5. Do you think some people take their spiritual lives too seriously? Why or why not?

Hmmn, Jan, I don't think one can take one's spiruality too seriously, as
we are all, to quote a song lyric of my Magic Fuzzy Pants maker friend, Kalyani—"beings of light with corporeal trends." Spirits in human form, as many believe. We must always be looking inward and monitoring if we are moving closer or further away from the light in our thoughts, words and deeds. Peace and harmony begins within.

6. If The Fun Mistress could give spiritual seekers one pearl of wisdom for living, what would it be?

Forgive people! And make sure that includes yourself.

7. Any projects coming up you'd like us to know about?

Yes, I am so excited about painting and stenciling a raw wood doll bed, table, chairs and trunk for Kelly's new American Girl doll, Kirsten. (Well, a new-used Kirsten I snagged on eBay.) I've never stenciled before and am excited. Mom and Dad's gifts to Kelly for Christmas. I'll be posting the results of that creative endeavor on my site.

And writing new songs of course, I plan on going into serious "wood-shed" mode after the turn of the new year. I've got my 10% inspiriation for the next 12, now just need to dive into that 90% perspiration.

And there you have me, Jan—raw and uncensored on your beautiful site of love and light. Thanks so much for allowing me to enter your sphere today.

Thanks, everybody! LOVE you all!!
xo

Ha! How sweet and fun this is.

Thank you so much Jan, for allowing me to grace your hallowed page.

Your blog is a gift to us all.

Tess The Bold LIfe December 15, 2009 8:51 AM

OMG, I'm laughing hysterically at 6:50 am. The blocked out squirrel face, knitting the bikini why drinking beer and God laughing in heaven. Who doesn't like the Tao of Funster? And who would think when I was at her blog and led here I'd see a link to my blog. Jannie and Jan thanks for the laughs and love today. You both are the best! xo

Jan December 15, 2009 9:08 AM

Howdy, Jannie! You are the perfect guest for me today as we are buried deep in the white stuff again (BRR!!) and YOU just warm my heart. Thanks for being here! I look forward to my belly jiggling with laughter like a bowl full of jelly, Santa-style.

Tess,
Yes, isn't she the bomb! Personally, I riproared when I followed the link to the fuzzy pants. Whoa! Jannie is that your $%^&*? You must be a runner because my #$%^& does not look like that and I would not ever dare to wear a pair of fuzzy pants. I am afraid I might cause some serious collateral damage. :-) Love your boldness. You, too, Tess!

DART December 15, 2009 9:55 AM

What a fun way to be introduced to a new (to me) blogger! Even her name made me smile...and that's a good way to start any day!

Stay warm! : )

Talon December 15, 2009 10:38 AM

Wonderful interview, Jan!

And Miss Funster is on the type of spiritual path that is guaranteed to light up many, many lives! Ah, those clever squirrels - what wisdom they share!

... Paige December 15, 2009 10:38 AM

great view of the Funster!

i have the CD in my truck and on my ipod-- awesome!

merry christmas, happy holidays and all other good things to one and all

Heather Kephart December 15, 2009 10:42 AM

What a fantastic interview! I love Jannie Funster! She is the embodiment of laughter and light, generosity of spirit and deed. Fantastic to learn more about her and get the mental image of her chasing squirrels with her camera, probably tripping in the grass and landing cushioned by the dangle balls of her fuzzy pants.

Lynn December 15, 2009 10:43 AM

Love that laughing story!

Carolynn December 15, 2009 11:12 AM

Okay, seriously, that CD was made for me. Could it be that Santa has already answered the plea I cleverly disguised in my letter to him just yesterday?

Belly laughs. Those are the best, aren't they? There's nothing quite so cathartic as a good belly laugh. Unless you're by yourself. Then you may want to watch for other signs of instability like facial tics. On the other hand, who's gonna know right?

Oh dear...I fear I may have revealed too much about myself...

cinderkeys December 15, 2009 11:33 AM

Ooh. So do you have rough ideas for the next songs sketched out?

Jannie Funster December 15, 2009 11:39 AM

Hee, hee!

Tess!! That squirrel was one of the friendlier ones, some can get pretty feisty. YOU are the best, actually, Tess -- wanna debate it??

JAN!! Ahhhh, shucks. I'm perfectly imperfect, that's for sure. And that's Kalyani's @$$! Yep, nice one, just naturally endowed. No running. She does yoga, tho.

DART!! Hi, now who's smiling at WHO'S name??? :) How can you not love a name like Dart? I picture you as a very speedy being. :)

TALON!! I'm just a regular person -- YOU are the one of light and wisdom, which you demonstrate on everyone's blogs in your comments.

PAIGE!! And there's Paige, the one and only. What a sweet comment. And Happy-Jolly to YOU too!! I've been thinking of you, of course.

HEATHER!! You are pretty super-awesome yourself, Woman. And you're in Dallas now -- Dallas!! Are you really??? What a dream come true. Oh and those dingle balls?? Great cushioning indeed!

LYNN!! It was a sweet magical time when she laughed like that. And she still is a big laugh-er. And I still have that hat! But the stroller crapped out eventually.

CAROLYNN!! You mean the one-sided facial tics? And the ones in my eyelids? And the ones where my chin pops up and down uncontrollably as I belly laugh all by myself? Hmmn, should I be worried now? :)

Okay guys and my secret word to post this is "reaere" --I kid thee not! How fitting, considering Kalyani's fuzzy pants.

Paul Maurice Martin December 15, 2009 11:40 AM

Seriously... what is it about trees? They seem to be such a universal spiritual symbol.

There's a song with a certain passage that for me really captures this - the title is "Tree."

Tree tree tree
Tree tree tree
Tree tree tree
Tree tree tree

By Fred Rogers

Blue Bunny December 15, 2009 11:41 AM

hoo-woo -- my jannie is sutch a starr!!

Jan Lundy December 15, 2009 11:42 AM

DART,
Welcome, nice to meet you, too! And thanks for the great Christmas jokes at YOUR site. Very and Funserish! (Jannie, you gotta check it out...)

Talon,
Welcome, and I agree about Jannie's path. It lights up all of our lives. (Oh, wasn't that a very horrible song by Debbie Boone???)

Paige,
Ok, now I am going to have to order the CD. It sounds wonderful! Thanks for visiting.

Heather,
Welcome! Oh, our images of Jannie just keep expanding don't they? Though not HER waistline. She seems trim as a fiddle. :-) I am a tad envious...

Lynn,
Thanks for posting and giving Jannie a high-five. :-)

Jan December 15, 2009 11:46 AM

Oh, Blue Bunny is here. Yeah! I LOVE Blue Bunny, and I really didn't mean it last week when I said your spelling drove me crazy. I sorry....Will you come visit at my house because my grandson, Max, now slightly over 1 year old, would love to squeeze you and hug you and kiss you...Yes, your Jannie is a star and we love how she shines.

Jannie Funster December 15, 2009 11:46 AM

PAUL!! You slipped in there just as my "bloging manigir" was making himself be known.

I thought that I would never see
A blog as lovely as a tree.

Then I came here to Jan's.

And that theory got blown right out of the water, or in this case -- right out of the snow bank.

JAN!! You were here too, wow. Imagine that. :)

Jan December 15, 2009 11:50 AM

Yes, it seems like we are blogging fools, Jannie. But what a great way to spend a snow bound day. Plus blogging here helps me avoid the ever-annoying call to write the next book. ARG! Truthfully, I'd rather play with Blue Bunny...

Paul,
Oh, yes, trees. What IS it about trees? I am getting a little concerned about that because the other day I swore I saw the tree in front of my house looking a lot like the Blessed Mother. Perhaps I am spending too much time alone... (LOL)

Blue Bunny December 15, 2009 11:50 AM

jan, i deepley fogivs wot yoo sedd about my speling. i kno i haz to werke mor on it.

TesoriTrovati December 15, 2009 11:55 AM

With a name like Funster you have to be fun! Miss Jannie is a true delight. I am so glad that I found her. Thanks for sharing this spiritual inspiration today. Enjoy the day! Erin

Jannie Funster December 15, 2009 11:57 AM

CINDERKEYS!! Whoops, sorry. you slipped right in there without me seeing you. Yep, have some basic ideas for the next 12, well for 10. I have all the melodies but 2 of the hooks are still playing their illusive game. But what can I do? Can't bash them over the head, will just have to let them rise up. When I'm least expecting 'em eh??

JAN!! Yes, your book. I must read it!! How 'bout a CD for You in exchage for a book for me? If you think that's a fair deal? I'm not sure how much your book sells for, tho. I could make up the difference in cash. Or extra rainbows??

BLOGGING!!! YAY!! I love it.

Jannie Funster December 15, 2009 12:01 PM

BUT WAIT!! There's TesoriTravati!! I've seen your gravatar before, perhaps we've even been on each others' blogs? You do look so hauntingly familiar. You look so much like my wonderful pal Erin Prais-Hintz of Treasures Found. Are you related?? You are both equally beautiful.

Jannie Funster December 15, 2009 12:02 PM

Sorry -- Trovati, my bad on the speling.

Carol December 15, 2009 12:19 PM

Leave it to Jannie to marry fun with spirituality - well, why not??? You've been amusing us for so very long now - you are truly a gift! Well done!

Jan December 15, 2009 12:25 PM

Carolynn,
Yes, I do think your wish may be getting ready to be granted (after reading your letter to Santa). How cool is this? Where will the elves find him? How will he be delivered? Do you think he will fit down the chimney. Oh, I hope so. :-) I also like the image of him waiting for you beneath the Christmas tree. Sigh....

Laughter is so good, so healing, so uplifting. I've always admired your sense of humor, the way.

Ms. Cinderkeys,
Welcome. A musical friend of Jannie's, hooray! May you sing on with joy....

Erin,
Hi! Lance tells me what an awesome woman you are. I hope you like my book--mailed it yesterday. And thanks for loving on, our Jannie. She is just great to love on.....

Jannie,
You ARE, right? Easy to love on? I know Kelly and Blue Bunny think so, hubby too?

Yes, we can talk about a book/cd trade. Fun! I am hoping Santa brings me an ipod or nano. I am so missing my music! My player in the car is broken too. Perhaps too much silence these days, thus the Mary thing in the tree. Sigh....

OK, now I must leave here for a bit and go do some (real) transcribing work. I have another guest coming on Thursday, a "celebrity" interview -- on, get this! -- "barenaked bliss." Jannie, you are gonna love it. Gotta prepare her post....Cup of coffee #4. Bring it on!

Jodi at Joy Discovered December 15, 2009 1:46 PM

Hi Jan and Jannie,
This interview was really FUN to read! I'm still cracking up at the thought of singing "Trees just wannna have fun" to the trees. I'm going to try that sometimes. I also like your comment, Jannie, about how we must "always be looking inward and monitoring if we are moving closer or further away from the light in our thoughts, words and deeds." Visualizing that light connects me to my joy. That's nice. It was wonderful to meet you here through Jan's blog. Thank you to you both!

Lance December 15, 2009 1:46 PM

Jan,
You have Jannie here!!

Hey Jannie!! Okay, so when can I see a picture of you in those fuzzy pants?? And I wonder about those trees - what exactly do they do for fun? Oh, I think I know - they wiggle their leaves to attract the birds...

Love your philosophy appreciating the moment. It's our moments that we have...unless we get caught up in what's coming or what has been. And then we miss out of fully experiencing this very moment...

Great to see you here!

Joanne December 15, 2009 2:37 PM

Wow, the sphere of Jannie is so encouraging, loving and fun filled. I like your attitude, Jannie, that it's possible to keep life light and easy, with our thoughts grounded in a faith or spirituality, but free also to lift in laughter, in recognition, in freedom. The two essences, spirituality and laughter, can be so connected, nourishing each other in a way. Very inspiring post today :)

Patricia December 15, 2009 3:12 PM

May the long time Fun shine on you, all love surround you and light within you guide your way home!

I am listening to your music as I read blogs...and this one made me laugh out loud...

My oldest was about 6 months and in her car seat after a water safety class and as we got on the freeway for home she figured out how to whistle....think that is genetic?

Jan thank you for the interview - am an intense person and am so happy to have Jannie in my life!...the squirrels at my house all plant sunflower seeds all over the neighborhood - like a surprise in everyone's garden...

Jan December 15, 2009 3:21 PM

Carol,
Welcome. Doesn't Jannie just do so right by us? Talk about Christmas cheer! She's right up there with eggnog in my book, nope, on second thought, definitely higher. :-)

Jodi,
I think those of us who read this will ever think about trees in the same way again. Glad you got to meet Jannie!

Lance,
Howdy! It's sooo good to be reminded about staying connected to the "present" moment, especially when all those thoughts about buying "presents" lures us away from the moment. Gotta fill up that sleigh!

Joanne,
Glad you met Jannie, too. She is a big lose of "light" and Light. :-) I thought you two might get along...

Jan December 15, 2009 3:23 PM

oops! ok, bad typo above to Joanne. Freudian slip? No Jannie is not a big "lose" of light and Light; a big DOSE is what I meant to say. Oh, Jannie, please tell me this typo slip like you feature on your blog so often is NOT contagious. Pleeeez.....My editors will kill me. :-)

Rose - The Center of My Self December 15, 2009 3:54 PM

What fun! What fun! Since I spend so much time alone, I tend to live in my head a lot, ruminating, navel-gazing, trying to learn and grow. Even so, I love to laugh! One of my favorite drawings is the one of Jesus laughing. Of course, he would. When you know that you have unconditional love, your heart would have to dance and sing, even in the face of the bad things he had to face. Jannie's crazy, light-heartedness made me laugh. I have to ask: are the squirrels' release forms in triplicate or do they have a copier?

cordieb December 15, 2009 5:55 PM

"Trees Just Want To Have Fun" cracked me up!!! Great interview! This posting produced my first smile and chuckle of the day. I truely needed this today! Thanks for sharing!

Peace, Light, Laughter and Love to both of you!!!

CordieB.

mermaid December 15, 2009 6:34 PM

I hope you keep making people, including yourself, Jannie. I, too take myself too seriously, and am blessed with a humorous husband and hilarious spiritual teacher.

Talking to squirrels, huh? I bet people walking by think you're crazy, and you just laugh some more...

Jan December 15, 2009 8:44 PM

Patricia,
So nice to meet you. I am glad Jannie brightens up your life, too. A baby that whistles, oh my! Such talent. :-)

Rose,
Oh, laughter is such good spiritual medicine, don't you think? Yes, that navel gazing gets a bit much, not to mention lint-filled.

Cordie,
Welcome! Glad Jannie tickled your funny bone today. We all need a big big big chuckle now and then...

Mermaid,
Glad you got to meet Jannie. She is one wise woman (and evolved) besides being funny. I'd say she is en-light-ening all of us. I am happy to hear that humor can be found in your day with hubby and teacher, too!

Jannie,
My hubby and I are going to watch a movie in your honor tonight. "Year One" with Jack Black. I am sure it will be completely ridiculous and a really good laugh.

Rose December 15, 2009 9:15 PM

Jan I really enjoyed your interview with Jannie. I think laughter is good medicine and Jannie knows how to make one laugh.

Kel December 16, 2009 2:32 AM

well I love this gal . . .

who would have thought I could call talking to Koalas a spiritual practice!

alright!!!!!!

Davina December 16, 2009 4:22 AM

I too cracked up at the blocked out squirrel face. Hilarious. Thanks Jan for more Funster time. Jannie you keep things light and playful and SO much fun! You're a doll.

Snaggle Tooth December 16, 2009 5:03 AM

Fun interview. Nice to meet you, Jan
Yes, our spirits n angels need to giggle too-
Think I'd be way too serious myself, without Jannie pushing me to the silly-side as she is gifted to do.
Mood-lifting can be a great spiritual experience also.

yep-already got me a CD too.
Was that "Tiger Squirrel" hiding?

Jannie Funster December 16, 2009 7:59 AM

I'll be back!

xoxo

Cindy La Ferle December 16, 2009 9:32 AM

Ho ho ho -- sounds like a wonderful idea, spirituality and laughter, something i need this time of year! I love it -- and I always believed God has a great sense of humor. Thanks for the tip .. and the smiles!

Mama Zen December 16, 2009 10:09 AM

I love, love, love the idea of God laughing!

But, Jannie, can I order one of those kelp bikinis?

Laura Hegfield December 16, 2009 11:45 AM

I love the "Lightness" with which you approach the whole concept of spirituality Jannie...and honestly the word spirituality is derived from the "spiritus", latin for breath...so what could be lighter than air? Not to mention LIGHT...why do we get so heavy at times about such matters as creating/maintaining a spiritual practice...maybe because for some people it is a HEAVY heart that first awakens them to a need/desire for SPIRIT? Something to ponder, and perhaps discuss with the trees.

gentle steps,
Laura

Laura Hegfield December 16, 2009 11:45 AM

And Jan, thanks for hosting this lovely sunbeam of a gal, Jannie!
laura

Jannie Funster December 16, 2009 1:05 PM

CAROL!! fancy meeting you in a place like this. It is a non- stressful place, tho, so a natural venue for you to appear with your wisdom.

JAN!! Yep, I'm pretty easy to love on! When I'm not cranky. :) You will love the ipod nano if that's your choice. It takes video too. And can hold up to 8 movies if you get the 32-gig! But Kelly has the 16-gig and it's plenty.

JODI JOY!! Oh yes, trees just want to have fun too, they love tickling. And knock-knonk jokes, that's why the wood peckers are their favorite friends. Great to meet you too!

LANCE!! I actually have a fuzzy dress now but the squirrels ate big holes in it, it's kind of down to a fuzzy sleeve and collar now. I was driving home a while ago thinking how I just wanted to be home, then stopped to slow down a bit and enjoy the ride, being in the moment is something I am working on a lot. Great to see YOU here!!!

JOANNE!! Hi, so great to meet you. Beautiful comment. I think funning is within us all. For me I need only to let it come up and out, and the more I allow it to bubble forth, the easier it gets.

PATRICIA!! Hi, Donut Woman! have you been here to Jan's blog before? isn't it a wonderful, wonderful place?! And isn't she Super-extra special -- like you!! 6 months old is so young to whistle, how cool. Kelly is just starting to get it now. Does your oldest still whistle?

JAN!! Egg nog, eh? Regular or reduced fat? Yep a big "lose" of love and light -- that's me :) :) :) Oh, a big dose -- even better. Let's hope you all don't O.D. on me and decide to stay away for your own good. :) Um, typos -- have to admit, they are contagious, yes. You'll be making at least one a day from now on.

CENTERED ROSE!! Hey, I am not sure if I know that drawing of Jesus laughing. Which one is it? I did love the portrayal of Jesus in "The Shack," he was so jolly and happy there. Rose, the squirrels actually have little wireless scanners attached to the underside of their tails -- go figure!

Jannie Funster December 16, 2009 1:06 PM

Wow, Blogger told me I was too wordy, so here's the rest of the comment...

CORDIEB!! Stick with us Funsters, we aim to make many chuckles happen. :) Peace, Light, Laughter and Love to YOU too!!

MERMAID!! Are you a real mermaid? Of course you are! Why did I even ask? Yes -- I am known as the crazy lady on the running trail. Well one of them, there is also the one who sprints with a tray full of cookies (and she never gives any out,) and the one who hops on one foot all the way while singing "Yankee Doodle Dandy."

JAN!! Thanks for noticing my great evolution. I find that about myself lately too, I even did my dishes a whole two times last week! And I have not seen that jack Black movie but his Nacho Grande just cracks me up to NO end!!!

SNAGGLE . Yes, Jan, dear Snaggle ordered my CD. I feel almost guilty taking peoples' hard earned money for them, but I guess it must be okay. And Snag, is sooo gifted herself in so many ways -- an amazing artiste in mutli media.

JANNIE!! Whoo-hoo!!! You did really return, wow. (How nice of you. I mean me.)

CINDY LAFERLE!! When I look at us and how laughter is so tied in to our souls, I just know God is made of laughter too. It's like Robin Williams funny bit about God making the platypus -- there's a sense of humor!

MAMA ZEN!! Due to such a super-busy holiday rush on my kelp bikinis I sold out of all 150 of them!! Sorry. And of course I only use genuine Nova Scotia south shore kelp that I harvest by the light of the full August moon after I've bathed in raw beet greens. But I'm taking orders for 2012!!

LAURA!! From kelp bikinis in the previous comment with Mama Zen to the breath of light hearts in your comment, I go from silly giggles to tears of joy for life. What a beautiful comment. The trees do feel the gamut too, but in the end it's the rejoicing that sings from their leaves into the universe.

And Laura! Sometimes I'm a Sunbeam and sometimes I'm a General Electric. :) Remember Sunbeam brand? Is it even still around? I remember Mom had one of those old sit-under dome hair dryers, Sunbeam brand. It was powder blue.

And there we have it for now.

Whoo-hoo!

Thanks again to my stunning and stellar hostess.

xo

Blue Bunny December 16, 2009 1:08 PM

Jan December 16, 2009 1:18 PM

Kel,
Just about anything in nature can serve as divine connection and spiritual practice, eh? Even koalas. :-) I'd love to have that experience.

Davina,
Thanks for being here and bringing some more light with you. :-)

Snaggle Tooth,
Welcome! So glad Jannie is a boon to your seriousness, too!

Cindy,
Nice to imagine ourselves surrounded by Beings who live in joy...

Mama Zen,
Too brave you are to even think about one of those bikinis. That sort of self-confidence I do not have...:-)

Laura,
Love your insights and shedding some "Light" on our the spiritual walk...May we take ourselves lovingly lightfully delightfully so.

Chris Edgar December 16, 2009 3:41 PM

When you talk about woodshedding I imagine you with a spiky black guitar practicing your Mixolydian modes at blinding speed. With equally spiky black/pink hair. This image comes from me reading too many music magazines as a kid.

Jan December 16, 2009 6:38 PM

HI Chris,
I have no idea what you are talking about but I am sure Jannie will! May you be making music yourself this holiday season...

Sarah December 16, 2009 8:11 PM

Yes I was hooked at the kelp bikini..giggle snort..what a wonderful interview!! Thank you both of you whahahahah loved it!!

Hi Jannie! Nice post! I learned a little more about you here, plus I found a new blog to read. I do wonder where you get your inspiration for all that humor. I haven't felt like laughing for quite a while now, but you make me laugh!

Jannie is such a beautiful soul. Her uplifting energy resonates in her gentleness, out-of-this-world humor and creative vigour. Visitors may also be interested in this blog article on Jannie and the link to a 90 minute radio interview she and I did together recently. She is so much fun 2 connect with! http://blog.dreambuilders.com.au/journal/2009/11/29/jannie-funster-how-to-be-true-to-you.html

Hi Jan and Jannie,

That is so awesome that you have Jannie featured on here. She is a wonderful soul that always spread love and laughter wherever she goes. Also her love for music shines through in her work. So as you can see, Jannie totally rocks!

Hi Jan and Jannie .. good to have a bit of wake up call here on this blog .. well done Jannie and I'm so pleased blue bunny popped in too ..

I bet blue bunny and the squirrels have a good natter while you jog off into the distant woods to muse with the trees .. I wonder if you spy on each other??

Maybe you've done a bit of Davina's poetry reading with the trees ..

We do do some funny things in life .. my mother had hysterics when I put Hardwick (her 'real life-like' stuffed dog) in a FC hat, and he had a red bib, braided and stitched in silver, with "I believe in Santa Claus" on it .. - she thinks Hardwick's the bees knees .. and I hope to post a picture of them, when I can work out how!

Enjoy the hopping around, or fluffy waving tail around, or just being calm and actually awake!! We're waiting for that white stuff Jan ..

Great post and lovely to see all the interaction ..

With love - Hialry Melton-Butcher

Sarah,
You are welcome and thanks for chiming in on the snorts and giggles!

Wilma,
Happy to hear that Jannie tickled your funnybone and more. Laughter is so good for us!

Shoot, sorry I misspelled Chris's last name up there. I'll be extra-sure to check this comment for badd speling before I hit post.

DOT!! So glad you got a laugh. my inspiration for humor? A weird mind?? A happy life? :)

LIARA!! You should know about beautiful souls -- takes one to know one. And you had to bring up that radio thing, eh?? ;) I've been meaning to put a link on my site to it. I've been meaning to do a lot of things -- like vacuum the Christmas tree needles up, but my mind does wander and my body follows. ;)

NADIA!! Dittoes on sharing love and light, that's what your whole blog is all about. I'm so glad I found you!!!

Hilary!! The squirrels all can't get enough of Blue Bunny, which is not surprising, bb being such a friendly loving guy. Somedays he can't keep up with their e-mails and calls. They all had a bit of a fright the other day on the trail when a German Shepherd chased them up a cypress. But no worries - all's well.

JAN!! I cannot thank you enough for asking me such great questions and doing up this super-creative and wonderful post. I am verklempt beyond compare.

well, off to blog hop a bit now!!

Jannie,
Thank you again for your wonderful responses to everyone. You just may be the cleverest woman I know. :-) And Bunny is the cutest bunny I know, that I don't know too many bunnies, but he is #1 in my book. As are you, my friend, for being so open and loving. Always encouraging us to look up and around for the joy in life. I am so glad you have spent this time with us. Love to you!

Liara,
Thank you for this lead and for helping to spread news of the Mistress of Mirth. I will check this out!

Hilary,
I so appreciate your sense of humor too! You must put up some photos of the doggie on your blog (or did you and I missed them). You can have plenty of our snow. Enough already. If a White Christmas is what you want, I do hope you get a nice sprinkling. :-)

I am relatively new to Jannie Funster-world (three months ago, maybe?) but am already immersed in and addicted to her wisdom and humor. She's such a breath of fresh air, and I loved reading this interview --- so thank you, Jan! And thank you, Jannie! You're both superstars in my world, and I love any chance I have to connect with your energies.

And yes, what is WITH those squirrels?! We have some real prima-donna ones in these parts, too.

Great interview. I love Jannie!
Funny story about her daughter laughing at nothing at such a young age :)

Humor is such an important part of life. Why else would the Great Creator/Spirit/God/Goddess/Energy... have made ever changing cloud shapes/figures/animals/angels/faces?!?!! or the Platypus for that matter.. What a heartwarming, energized, happy, enlightened post! Thank you for showing us the funnier side of life! May the Love and Joy of the Season fill your heart and soul now and throughout the new Year! Love and Light, Nina P

Still have not hit the meditation floor yet -- the heating guys are here!

For the give-away, the winner is...

BLUE BUNNY!!

JUST KIDDING, JUST KIDDING!!

:)

The actual winner is....

Hilary Melton-Butcher!!! Based on a ramdomized mumber-picker thing, of the 62 comments.

Yay!!

xoxo

Let's both tell Hilary!!

Hi Jan and Jannie .. thank you thank you thank you ..

That was a fun time .. a bit of light release as Christmas rush and buzz gathered around ..

Blue Bunny deserves a big plus - he's a great character!

I 'spect the squirrels have been tucked up rooting for their hidden acorns - with the weather we've been having. Is the kelp bikini frozen rigid? Or did you thaw it out with the Christmas tree lights?

The prezzie sounds wonderful - does the man come with it - please??!!!

Have a great day .. possibly more snow here .. wet stuff Ithink - so just 'nasty', cold and wet - not good for Hardwick - damp underside.

Wonderful - waiting with bated/baited breath!!
