Spiritual Luminary SARK: She's Here with a Glad Giveaway!

If you're a personal/spiritual growth aficionado, you'll recognize her books in a nanosecond. They boast colorful, handwritten prose that leaps off the page with a zest for life.

SARKSusan Ariel Rainbow Kennedy—has become one of the today's most beloved writers and teachers. She is a best-selling author and artist, with sixteen titles in print and well over two million books sold, including the national bestsellers Succulent Wild Woman, Bodacious Book of Succulence, Eat Mangoes Naked, Prosperity Pie, and Juicy Pens, Thirsty Paper. Her newest book is Glad No Matter What.

And I'm delighted to say that I had the most wonderful conversation with SARK a few weeks ago in celebration of this new book ... which is suitably and simply nicknamed, "Glad..."

For it is just that. A ripe invitation for us to be glad—in touch with all the good parts of our feelings, even the hard ones—when times are tough. A beckon call to do what the subtitle of her book says, "Transform Loss and Change Into Gift and Opportunity."

Even when you've lost something or someone you love? you might ask. Yes, precisely then, says SARK. She did, and she talks quite openly about this in hdf book. It was through these losses (a beloved pet and treasured human relationships) that she dove into the wellsprings of grief. And she emerged richer, gladder because of it! She assures us anyone can ...

Glad No Matter What is a very special book. I've read many of her books over the years and this one truly spoke to my heart. It was different. It took a very difficult subject—grief and loss—and turned it into a spiritual adventure.

I explain why in this excerpt from my interview with SARK.

And, if you are feeling the nigglings of change, grief, or loss today, I guarantee you will be buoyed by her infectious spirit and loving heart when you listen.

Like me, SARK is a very practical woman. She wants to know what "works," and then sets about to put those techniques to the test. One of the wonderful features of Glad No Matter What are the tools she presents for our healing journey.

Potent chapters include how to:
• cultivate self-love, even when you don't feel self-loving at all
• say yes to all the changes
• fall to pieces and why that is a good thing!
• see in the dark with your emotional GPS
• live "in the marvelous messy middle"
• become a "transformational change agent"

And in trademark SARK fashion, she shows us how to do all of this with creativity and verve through journaling, artistic expression, list making, ritual enacting, and reflection. She invites us to "say what is," not hide from ourselves and our feelings, and allow our "wise self" to rise up and pave the way for healing.

Get ready for a powerful and fun journey with SARK.

Listen here. It's 9 min. of joy!

And—woohoo!— SARK will be stopping in to say HI!!!

So be sure to leave a comment, as she's giving away a copy of Glad No Matter What!

Your comment will be your ticket for the drawing.

Thank you,  SARK, for being with us today. I loved our conversation and know it will inspire and uplift so many others. Continued blessings on your good work. I am so GLAD we met!
~Jan

Thank you for a wonderful, thoughtful interview with SARK. I have been interested in her work and getting to hear her speak was so valuable today. The concept of "being in the middle" and the conversation about the impact of emotions on the body really touched me. I love just the thought of the 3 part harmony. As someone who can't sing, I think I like creating harmony with my life. Blessings to all!

Carmen December 2, 2010 10:57 AM

The word that seems to be coming in all the lessons of life this week is ~ authenticity ~ to say, be, and feel what is and embrace it. Thank you for yet another voice singing me along my journey.

I love SARK! One of my oldest and dearest friends lived in San Francisco, discovered SARK, went to a signing, and sent me my first SARK book. Since then, I have acquired quite a library. It is not only the words written but the colors and format and freedom that flashes on each page. It is like opening a book that dares the reader to read, to ream, to write, to… live.
I am looking forward to reading this new work… and listening to the interview!

The Buddhistmama December 2, 2010 12:30 PM

Oh.. she looks like my kind of writer! Yeah! New books to read!

Coleen December 2, 2010 1:27 PM

Neat interview. SARK feels like Buddha Chick at the next level. I'm very intrigued by the marvelous messy middle, dealing with multiple simultaneous feelings, the inner critic- meaty stuff!

Darla December 2, 2010 2:34 PM

How SARK speaks of the "marvelous messy middle" reminds me of "equanimity"...finding our balanced center. I am always looking for new ways to approach healing and grief processing for my Mom (widowed 2 years ago after 50 years of marriage); she is very resistant to 'going there' and her health is suffering because of it. SARK's new book sounds like it shares some fresh approaches -- I look forward to exploring it!

This interview strike a chord with me as I have experienced the death of my husband of 40 years. I have a difficult time seeing/feeling moments of joy in my life...I have started meditation and will start seeing a counselor in a few weeks...hopefully "all will be well". Thanks for sharing this interview Jan....

Skipper Kim December 2, 2010 4:16 PM

I have been a fan of SARK since I was 16...I am 40 now. I love to read and reread her books! They have inspired me and all of my clients in therapy. I am now a registered play therapist, too and her colorful drawings speak to children and adults!! Thank you, SARK for the years of inspiration....what a journey!

Having lost both my parents, all my grandparents, and several wonderful dogs, I think this book will help a lot of people. No one wants to talk about it, even your own family. With sympathy to all who have had losses, Gayle

Janice Lynne Lundy December 2, 2010 9:58 PM

Laura,
Great thought about the large container of the heart. May we each cultivate one! I love your 3 "L" description of the journey...

SWATS,
Share on! May we do so with a sense of that childhood joy that SARK has.

Anonymous,
I'll hope SARK reads your words. How great you can share hers with your clients. :-)

Gayle,
Yes, you are right. Very few can talk about loss and grief in this way. I think you would really love this book knowing all you have gone through. xo

Ms. Anonymous (all caps),
Glad you stopped by. I love knowing that you love SARK and that her work nourishes your soul life. Enjoy!

Caity,
Read the "Bed" book long ago. It WAS wonderful! Thanks for visiting. :-)

Eileen,
Yes, that one was a breakthrough book for so many, wasn't it? It holds the most tender place in my heart. Don't you think all women should read it? :-)

Kay Marie,

Thank you for sharing this interview, Jan. I enjoyed listening to it while working in the studio. Wish it was longer! You have a lovely interviewing style. When and where will we be able to hear longer recordings from you?

Anonymous December 4, 2010 8:57 AM

The SARK books and SARK state of mind always, always, make me smile ;-) (Great big SMILEY face) and I love giving these books as gifts

Janice Lynne Lundy December 4, 2010 9:41 AM

Ingrid,
Thanks for the kudos dear friend. There will be more excerpts coming soon. SARK and I spoke for an hour so there is MUCH to digest. We spoke in depth about so many things I thought it best to cut it into sound bytes. Yes, more to come...xo

Anonymous,
I do agree that SARK books make the very best gifts! Glad they make your heart happy.

Sheryl December 5, 2010 4:33 PM

I, too, have followed and loved SARK for a very long time. What a blessing to hear her talk about her latest book.

mermaid December 5, 2010 7:38 PM

Susan, you are a gift to all beings (especially women) who were taught to suppress their vibrant, emotional, feminine selves in order to fit in to tidy world and not make a mess of themselves. Well, I wholeheartedly agree. Spill out of the cup that contains you. Let yourself make spots on the wall. We are artful, colorful women, and we will be seen and known and loved!

Jan, you keep giving us gifts. May you receive these back in equal measure!

Rose - The Center of My Self December 5, 2010 9:02 PM

Just seeing the name "SARK" instantly puts me in a state of childlike glee. I haven't read any of her books, but have encountered her work through various means over the years. I believe in holding to our open-hearted, childlike honesty, our acceptance of everything as it happens (children accept because everything that happens is new to them; no judgment); SARK really embodies this simple enthusiasm for me. I think it's about time I read one of her books, so off to Amazon I go!

Janice Lynne Lundy December 6, 2010 9:26 AM

Sheryl,
Glad you enjoy her! She is a bright star, for sure. :-)

Mermaid,
I love the picture you've painted for us here: spilling out, coloring our world with feminine wisdom and joy. Beautiful!

Rose,
Yes, childlike glee definitely comes to me. Glad you are drawn to her work. One of the first SARK books I really enjoyed was "Inspiration Sandwich." "Also "Succulent Wild Woman." Enjoy reading your first SARK book!
