A Season of Preparation
Everywhere I look it seems people are preparing for something ...
Christians are preparing for Easter.
My Jewish friends are preparing for Passover.
Families are preparing for Spring Break and travel.
College students are preparing to end their school year or graduate.
Seekers may be preparing to go on a pilgrimage or spiritual retreat.
Outside of my window, the birds are busy building nests, preparing for the arrival of new babies.
I am preparing too. I leave soon for a 4-day silent retreat, and though I am "working" at it as a spiritual director, I am preparing myself to go into quieter inner spaces ...
Preparation ...
It means to "make one's self ready to do or deal with something."
Preparation is an important element of our spiritual journey. It invites us to take a good look at where we are and where we wish to go. It invites us take an inventory—to scan our thoughts and intentions, our hopes and dreams, so that we can become more clear about the journey ahead.
Are you preparing for anything right now? I'd love to hear.
And if you are, I wish you peace and joy as you prepare for the next leg of your journey.
"Before everything else, getting ready is the secret of success." ~ Henry Ford

At Buddha Chick.org, we're preparing to greet new Chicks, women from all walks of life, all spiritual persuasions who are ready to leave difficulty behind to live with elegance and joy. And I'm companioning them all the way home. Gosh, I love this "work." Please consider joining us if you are ready to stop the struggle.
At Dharma Sisters Circle.org, we are sitting at the feet of Loving-kindness teacher, Sharon Salzberg, and deepening our journey into Metta. We're healing ourselves with the power of our voices in our Khanti ("patient endurance") Healing Circle. And in the Nirvana Cafe' (poetry circle) we're sharing the poems of our souls. Please join us! We are proud to share that Dharma Sisters Circle was recently called, "the kindest women's community on the web."

ahh yes. Pesach as you know...but also preparing my ground of being for the seeds of courage and love that I continue to plant daily.
Blessings to you anam cara as you prepare for your upcoming retreat.
I've never been to Conway (always took the Toledo retreat options), but I've heard that it's amazing. :)
I attended a workshop at Weber (in Adrian) this weekend led by Jan Phillips that felt like being plowed (in a good way) with new ways of seeing creative practice. Right now I am feeling like I am looking over seed packets and greenhouse catalogs, trying to discern what I need to be planting right now.
The Conway 4-day silent retreat is amazing. I have had life changing experiences there including walking the outdoor labyrinth. Peace be with you in your silence. You are in my prayers as you retreat and guide others.
Janice, first lots of light to you as you go on your retreat-it sounds wonderful!
I am preparing actually as I begin to journey with my own writing I am looking around and making notes and being completely unaware of what comes next and learning to love that! Thank you for your entry
Peace and blessings to you as you prepare; peace and blessings placed ahead of you at the retreat.
Laura - I love "preparing my grond of being for the seeds of courage and love that I continue to plant daily." Beautiful metaphor.
There are changes occuring in my life. My daughter, son-in-law, two granddaughters and two dogs are staying with me for a couple of weeks while the home they'll be renting is renovated. I'm looking forward to them moving into their new place and only being minutes away from me. I'm also adopting a dog, a dream I've had for so long. I'll have a little companion in my life to love and care for and to look forward to being with each day.
I am preparing to enter a new body of wellness where I have a greater capacity to hold fear.
May this retreat be joyous and sweet for you and the participants:)

Your retreat with Jan Philips must have been wonderful. She is an amazing woman. Your personal preparation, pouring over seed catalogues, sounds great!
