Oh, Jan,
I think that your joy day could never be described as paltry! I adore getting "snailies" in the mail! That's what my friends and I call hand written letters to each other because we send them via "snail mail" versus e-mail. I love to send them and receive them. I have a hat box filled to the rim with various cards, stationary and paper. I adore selecting what I'm going to send and adorning it with brightly colored writing, adding little hearts, dots and love.

Thank you for sharing your day with us and participating in the blog party! I love how it's a continuation on what you've already been celebrating for a month!

Your prescence on my blog makes me smile especially with your well written and happy comments.

I feel as though I've been a bit neglectful with the party as I was out of town for a few days playing ~

I think Pen Pals are just great, even if we are no longer in high school. I have a couple, one in another country, and love the process. We learn so much about other ways of living in this way and gain new appreciation for people's life journeys. Enjoy!

It's interesting that you write about "the lost art of letter writing"! Because I feel the same way, I sought out a pen pal who was interested in exchanging not just emails, but snail mail letters. She lives in Great Britain (I'm in the US) & I just sent off my 1st letter to her this week! I'm looking forward to getting her response back - the excitement of opening the envelope & reading a long, newsy letter, & getting to know a new friend from somewhere I've never been! PURE JOY!

Yesterday I sent a card with some pictures I took to a friend and today I sent a heart-felt Thank-you card to a friend. I felt just as much JOY in sending these.

This may sound small, but it makes a big difference. Today I made extra time to just be there with my kids in the kitchen. The tv was on, we were all talking at once and making food, and we just bantered and enjoyed each other. Oh yes, and we played with the puppy.

Sometimes the informal moments are sooo joyful.
And I am so grateful for them.

My grand daughter is sick with the flu - stuffy, runny nose and a cough. The only joy I had all morning was the scent of her hair and her warm body as I hugged and comforted her.

As she felt better after lunch and fell asleep, I settled down with chocolate swirl ice cream, heaped three scoops high on a gigantic slice of warm caramel cake. I was grateful for the 30, 40 or 60 minutes to celebrate Joy Rebel Day thinking there would be nothing more.

I was so wrong. The mail-lady slipped a wonderful essence of joy into my mailbox - a hand-written letter from my new pen pal who lives in Michigan.

So, tonight I'll be writing letters to her and another friend who is on her way back to Midland, from a family reunion in Colorado.

Then I'll be stopping by Amy's and Brandi's sites to join the party. Maybe I'll meet some of you guys there.

I like letter writting, too. What a marvelous way to share joy.

I celebrated joy today by being in a meeting and helping to facilitate solutions. It brings me such joy when people from diverse areas can come together, discuss options, and we can really get to solutions. What an amazing joy!

But first, I'll tell you how I'm going to spread a little joy today: I'm sending my son off to a music festival with some friends - something which will make him very happy. Then while he's away, I'm preparing a meal for my husband, daughter and myself, full of all the healthy fish and veggies my son would never think of eating.

I'm big on handwritten notes & cards, as well. I think they're so much more meaningful and speak volumes about how important that person is in our life. I would love to have a dedicated writing desk with little drawers for stationary and an old inkwell. Something pretty that would add ceremony to the act of writing a card or a letter to someone.

Thank you for your caring words over at my place today. I'm just going to create as calm and healing a space for my little guys as I can, right now.

Well, this post of yours is Totally Weird In A Joy Rebel Wondferful Way!!

I write letters!!!!! And receive them, from pen-pals I've been writing to for 15 years, whee-hoo. I had slacked off a lot over the past year while working on my music but I sent 6 letters in the past 2 weeks, with my music CD.

In fact, and how additionallly weird is this -- my current blog post features my new letters-writing corner, with pictures. I have a collection of ridiculously goreous stationery from around the world.

Holy Cow! This Joy Rebel Day is just magically tingle-inducing.

I like to make little notes and draw a little something on the front, inside I say something joyful and fun and then I tuck them in obvious places around town.
I do this a couple times a year and started doing it one Winter when I was depressed, it lifed me right up :-). I also like to include a dollar bill from time to time :-).

Just yesterday, I was pulling a book out of my briefcase, and out fell a card also. So, I picked it up - and it was this beautiful card (with hand-written note) I'd received from a friend a couple of months ago. And it's something I continue to hold onto. Because it does have special meaning. Because she took the time to get a meaningful card, and then add her own very wonderful sentiments to it - meant so much to me.

So, I think what you're doing is a wonderful thing! Every one who receives one of these special gifts from you will be so appreciative! It does mean a lot!

I'm in on the celebration today, as well. Goofy, is the angle I've went with so far. I acted like a mummy, at work, a little bit ago. Almost accidentally! But so fun!
